The Advanced plan of Document Library Pro includes Bulk Upload, which creates many documents at once from a batch of files or from a spreadsheet. It saves a lot of time when you are setting up a library or moving one across from somewhere else.
There are two methods: Drag and drop a batch of files, of import a CSV file. To add documents one at a time instead, see Documenten toevoegen aan je bibliotheek.
Drag and drop a batch of files
This is the quickest way to fill a new library. Go to Bulk-upload in the left menu and drop your files onto the page.
One document is created per file. The file name becomes the document title, with the extension dropped and dashes turned into spaces, so board-minutes-march.pdf becomes board minutes march. Tidy up your file names before you upload if they are untidy, which is easier than renaming documents afterwards.
Gebruiken Upload to category above the drop zone to file everything you are about to upload into one category. Leave it on No category to sort the documents out later.
Once the files are in, open any document to add a description, change its title or assign more categories and tags.
Import a CSV file
A CSV import sets the title, description, categories and more for every document as it is created, so your library arrives organized rather than needing tidying afterwards. This is the better choice when you are moving a library from another system.
Build a spreadsheet with one row per document and one column per piece of information, with a header row across the top, then save or export it as a CSV file.
- Ga naar Bulk-upload and choose Upload CSV file.
- Select your file. The maximum size is shown on the screen.
- Check the Column mapping. Your headings are matched to our fields automatically, and you can correct any which are wrong or leave a column out.
- Klik Importeren.
The screen reports progress as it works and confirms when the import is complete. View import log lists what was created, which is the place to look if a row did not arrive.
Columns you can include
- Naam - The document title. This is the only column you have to include.
- Inhoud - The document description, as plain text or HTML.
- Samenvatting - A short summary. There is no excerpt box on the Add Document screen, so this can only be set during an import.
- Bestands-URL - The web address of a file to pull into your library, so that it is hosted and downloadable like any file you upload.
- Direct URL - A web address which stays an external link rather than being imported, for example a video or a page on another site.
- Featured Image URL - The address of an image to download and use as the document thumbnail.
- File Size - Only needed for linked documents, since the size of anything hosted for you is worked out automatically.
- Categorieën en Tags - Separate several with commas. Any which do not exist yet are created during the import, and a greater-than sign nests a child inside a parent, such as Reports > 2026.
- Document Authors - The author name shown against the document.
- Published - TRUE publishes the document, FALSE keeps it as a draft.
- Datum - The publish date, which matters if your library is sorted by date.
- Expiry - The date the document is hidden from your library. See documentvervaldatum.
- Post slug - The last part of the document’s own web address.
Which method should I use?
- Drag and drop suits a folder of files with sensible names, where you only need the documents to exist.
- A CSV import suits a move from another system, or any library where the categories, descriptions and links matter from day one.
- If your files already live in Google Drive or Dropbox, neither is needed. Connect the folder instead and your documents are created and kept up to date for you. See sync a Google Drive or Dropbox folder with your library.
