Each document in your hosted library has a link that lets visitors download the file or open its destination. You can show this link as a clickable button, a plain text link, or a file-type icon. If the download button is missing from a document, here is how to track down the cause.
Check the document has a link
The most common reason a download button is missing is that the document doesn’t have a link attached. Open the document in your dashboard and confirm it has either an uploaded file or a link to an external destination, such as a file hosted elsewhere or a video. Without one of these, there is nothing for the button to point to, so it won’t appear.
Check the link display style
Your library has a setting that controls how document links are displayed, as a button, a text link, or a file-type icon. If you expect a button but are seeing a text link or an icon, open your library’s appearance settings and confirm the link style is set to button.
Check visibility and access
If you are on the Advanced plan and have restricted access to part or all of the library, the download links for protected documents will only work for visitors who have access. If you are viewing the library as a visitor without access, the button for those documents won’t be available. Check the visibility settings for the affected documents or categories.
Still missing?
If the document has a link, the display style is set to button, and access isn’t restricted, but the button still isn’t showing, please contact our support team and we’ll take a look for you.
