If your hosted document library isn’t displaying the way you expect, there are a few common causes you can check yourself before reaching out to us. Work through the sections below in order.
The library page is blank or empty
If the page where your library should appear is blank, or the library frame loads but stays empty, the first thing to try is clearing your caches. A stale cached copy of the page is the most frequent reason a library looks empty.
- Refresh your browser, or open the page in a private browsing window.
- If you have placed the library on another site with a caching plugin or service, clear that cache too.
Reload the page after clearing the cache. If the library still doesn’t appear, move on to the checks below.
The library loads but shows no documents
If the library frame loads but no documents are listed, the documents may simply not match what the library is set to show. Open your library in the dashboard and confirm:
- The documents you expect are published and set to public visibility.
- The library is scoped to the right categories. If the library is limited to certain categories in the Library Builder, only documents in those categories will appear.
For more on this, see why documents aren’t appearing in the library.
The embed isn’t showing on another site
If you have placed your library on a separate website using the embed code and it isn’t appearing there, check that the full embed code was copied across exactly as provided, with nothing trimmed off. Some website builders strip out embed code unless you paste it into a dedicated embed or custom-code block.
To confirm the library itself is fine, open its own page on your Document Library Pro site. If it displays correctly there, the issue is with how the embed was added to the other site rather than the library.
Still not loading?
