Document Library Pro comes with five languages fully translated and provided for you: English, Nederlands, Deutsch, Français, Italiano or Español. You can also translate the front end of your document libraries into one or more additional languages.
Log in to your dashboard per iniziare.
Choose a built-in language
New customers choose their main language in the setup wizard. The setup wizard opens the first time you go to your dashboard.
On the first step, Your library, use the Lingua principale field. It is the last field on that step and is already set to a best guess, so most people can click Avanti.
Choosing a different language switches the setup wizard straight away.
You can change your language at any time later in Settings:
- In the left menu, click Impostazioni.
- Clicca sul General tab.

- Scegli English, Nederlands, Deutsch, Français, Italiano o Español.
- Clicca Salva.
This translates your dashboard, every library, and the emails we send.
If your language is not listed, add your own language instead.
Add your own language
- In the left menu, click Impostazioni.
- Clicca sul Translations tab.
- Nel Language field, enter the name of the language (e.g. “Swedish”). This is for your own reference and won’t be displayed anywhere.
Seleziona Right-to-left language if the language reads from right to left, for example Arabic or Hebrew. - Click each section to open it: Counts and paging, Ricerca e filtri, Buttons and downloads, Empty and loading states, Views and sorting, e Rows and selection.
- Change the text you want to translate. Leave any text you do not want to change.
- Clicca Salva.
Every field starts filled in with the wording that visitors see now. A number badge on each section shows how many texts strings you have translated.
Some text strings contain content that the library fills in automatically. For example, the library adds the numbers in Showing 1-25 of 340, the category name in Filter by Categories and the search term. These parts show as locked boxes. You can type before and after them, and you can move them left or right with their arrows to suit your language’s word order, but you cannot edit or delete them. Under those fields, Visitors see: previews the result.
By default, a custom language applies to the main library, which contains all documents. If you have multiple libraries then you can choose which libraries each language will be used for.
Note: The translations page does not allow you to translate the column headers of your document library tables. Instead you should rename the columns in the appropriate language on the Display tab (if you only have one library) or in each individual library.
Make your libraries multilingual
Use this setup when your website or intranet is in more than one language and you want a library in each language. It works on any site that accepts an embed code, including WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, and custom sites.
The way it works is that you embed a document library in the appropriate language in one of your pages for that language.
- In the Document Library Pro dashboard, create one or more document categories for each language. In the left menu, click Documents, poi Categorie. Enter the Nome, poi fai clic su Add New Category. For example, create categories called “French” and “Catalan” with as many sub-categories as required.
- Add documents in each language (Documents then Add Document) or via the Bulk Upload section if you’re on the Advanced plan.
- Create a library for each language (Libraries, poi Create Library). On the Documents step, under Categorie, choose that language’s category. On the Display step, click each column in the Colonne list and type its heading in that language.
- Con il piano Impostazioni page, click the Translations tab. For each language other than your Library language, clicca Add another language, fill in its text, and under Libraries, tick the library for that language. The library in your Library language needs nothing here.
- Add each library to your site. In the left menu, click Libraries. Copy the code in the Embed Code column, then paste it into a page in that language on your website/intranet.
Ogni libreria usa una lingua. Se selezioni una libreria sotto una seconda lingua, viene spostata lì. Se una libreria appare mai sotto due lingue, prevale la lingua più in alto nella pagina.
When you have more than one language, you can tick Also use for any library not listed in another language to make one language the fallback. Otherwise, libraries under no language use your Library language.
Where each piece of text is set
- Column headings: Set these in Library Builder, on each library’s Display step.
- Search, filters, paging, buttons, empty and loading messages, views and sorting: Set these on the Impostazioni page, on the Translations tab.
- Download, preview and download-selected button text: Set these once for the whole site on the Impostazioni page, on the Display tab. A value on the Translations tab replaces it for that language’s libraries.
- Messages shown when a library is empty or a search finds nothing: Set these for the whole site on the Impostazioni page, on the Advanced tab. A value on the Translations tab replaces it for that language’s libraries.
- The placeholder in a filter dropdown, such as Category: This comes from the filter’s name, set in Library Builder.
- Document titles, descriptions and files: These are not translated. Add each document in each language instead and assign them to the appropriate category for that language.
Translating your dashboard
Custom languages on the Translations tab change the libraries your visitors see. They do not change your dashboard.
The dashboard is available in the built-in languages only. For any other language, use the translation built into your browser, for example Google Chrome’s Translate option.
