Everything runs on our platform, so there is nothing to install and no software to maintain. This guide takes you all the way from sign up to a live, searchable document library, and most people have theirs up and running in well under an hour.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/documentlibrary.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/document-library-dashboard.jpg\" alt=\"Document library dashboard shown after getting started\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>Create your library<\/h2>\n<p>After you sign up and set your password, the <strong>Finish setting up your library<\/strong> screen asks for two things: a <strong>Library name<\/strong> and a <strong>web address<\/strong> (a short slug such as <code>acme<\/code>, which becomes <code>acme.documentlibrary.app<\/code>). Click <strong>Create My Library<\/strong> and we build it for you. This usually takes around twenty seconds.<\/p>\n<h2>Choose how your library looks<\/h2>\n<p>A short setup wizard then walks you through the basics. Nothing here is permanent, so do not worry about getting it perfect now:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Layout.<\/strong> Show your documents as a <strong>table<\/strong> (ideal for long lists people scan and search) or as a <strong>grid<\/strong> of cards (ideal for visual collections such as reports or brochures).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Columns.<\/strong> Choose what to show for each document, for example its title, categories, file type, file size, and a download button.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Filters and search.<\/strong> Decide how visitors narrow things down, such as by category or document type.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can change all of this later under <strong>Instellingen<\/strong>. Finish the wizard and click <strong>View Library<\/strong> to see your library.<\/p>\n<h2>Add your documents<\/h2>\n<p>Open <strong>Documenten<\/strong> en klik <strong>Add a document<\/strong>. For each document you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upload a file (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images and more), or link to a document that lives elsewhere, such as a Google Drive file or a video.<\/li>\n<li>Give it a clear title and description so it is easy to find.<\/li>\n<li>Organize it with categories and tags, which also power your filters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can add documents one at a time, or import many at once to get going quickly. See <a href=\"https:\/\/documentlibrary.pro\/nl\/docs\/adding-documents\/\">adding documents to your library<\/a> for the full walkthrough.<\/p>\n<h2>Publish your library<\/h2>\n<p>There are two ways to share your library, and you can use either or both:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Share it as a ready-made page.<\/strong> Your library has its own web address from the moment it is created, so you can publish it and simply send people the link. There is nothing else to set up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Embed it on your own website.<\/strong> Copy your embed code from <strong>Bibliotheek publiceren<\/strong> and paste it into any page, on any platform, including WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow and more. Your library then appears right inside your own site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/documentlibrary.pro\/nl\/docs\/publishing-your-library\/\">publishing your library and getting your embed code<\/a> for step-by-step instructions for your platform.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/documentlibrary.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/publish-document-library-to-website.jpg\" alt=\"Publishing your document library with an embed code or a hosted page\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>Control who can access your documents<\/h2>\n<p>If some documents are private, you can password protect your whole library from <strong>Access Control<\/strong>, or a specific library from <strong>Bibliotheek publiceren<\/strong>. Visitors then need the password before they can view or download them. See <a href=\"https:\/\/documentlibrary.pro\/nl\/docs\/category\/access-control\/\">access control<\/a> to learn more.<\/p>\n<h2>Find your way around<\/h2>\n<p>Your dashboard home shows quick actions and a running count of your documents, categories and tags. The menu gives you <strong>Documenten<\/strong>, <strong>Bibliotheek publiceren<\/strong>, <strong>Bibliotheken<\/strong>, <strong>Access Control<\/strong> en <strong>Instellingen<\/strong>, with your <strong>Billing<\/strong> and profile under <strong>Account<\/strong>.
