Puis-je search the contenus of PDFs or fichiers in the biblioth\u00e8que?<\/h2>\n

Oui. The champ de recherche also looks inside the fichiers attached to your documents, so visiteurs can find a document by searching for words that only appear within the fichier itself. There is nothing to set up, as the fichier contenus are indexed automatically.<\/p>\n

This works for PDF fichiers, Microsoft Office fichiers such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint (for example .docx, .xlsx and .pptx), and OpenDocument fichiers (for example .odt and .ods).<\/p>\n

Why aren’t the contenus of my protected PDFs searchable?<\/h2>\n

The search cannot read the text inside a PDF whose contenus are encrypted. When the search cannot read that text, it cannot match words that appear only inside the PDF.<\/p>\n

PDF security can use two password types.<\/p>\n

    \n
  • An open password controls who can open the fichier.<\/li>\n
  • A permissions password controls actions such as printing, copying, or editing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Either type prevents the PDF text from being searchable. A PDF can still open without asking you for a password and remain encrypted. Print or copy restrictions can encrypt the fichier too.<\/p>\n

    The document stays in your biblioth\u00e8que. You can still find it by its titre, description, cat\u00e9gories, and other details. A search for words that appear only inside the fichier returns no results for that PDF.<\/p>\n

    To make the PDF contenus searchable, save or export the PDF again without security restrictions. Then upload the new version to replace the existing fichier in the biblioth\u00e8que. You need to choose between protection and searchable fichier contenus.<\/p>\n

    How does search treat accents and special characters?<\/h2>\n

    Search treats accented and plain characters as interchangeable. For example, a search for “Zurich” will also match “Z\u00fcrich” in the biblioth\u00e8que, and vice versa, so visiteurs can find what they need whether or not they type the accent.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
